Questo tipo di munizione era stata espressamente sviluppata per la Luftwaffe per l'uso notturno e la loro scia era estremamente debole per evitare che la luce accecasse temporaneamente i mitraglieri durante l'utilizzo. Fu probabilmente prodotta a partire dal 1941Per quanto riguarda la S.m.K. Gl-Spur Üb mit Zerleger si tratta di una Glimmspur con palla dotata di autodistruzione (mit Zerleger) rimasta per quanto e dato a sapere solo sulla carta. La palla avrebbe dovuto contenere contenere un acido, PETN e tetracene i quali dopo l'attivazione avrebbero frammentato il proiettile dopo circa due chilometri di volo.

Il "miglioramento" consisteva nell'utilizzo di 3,0 - 3,5 g di polvere del tipo Nitropenta Gew.R.P. che ne migliorava considerevolmente le prestazioni.
Era riconoscibile per una fascia di colore verde a circa metà altezza della palla
Veniva utilizzata dalla sola Luftwaffe e solamente sulle MG17
Le Verbessert vennero introdotte nel 1940
